Hey All NJ and New Yorkers,

Looking for something to do next Saturday night? Try giving the Green Room a shot. This is a pretty cool place that people who dig music and want a chill atmosphere to hang out in, need to start checking out. The kind of place we need more of on the Jersey side. So drop by and give em some encouragement. And it's a 5 minute walk from the PATH station!

This will be my second DJ session at the Green Room. Expect an onslaught of great music, new and old, played on a boomin sound system and a great crowd of people.

Lots of Rock, Jazz and RnB for starts and it'll get dancier later in the evening.

I'll be showing up 8-ish which seems to mean 9. And I'll be going until a song or two after they tell me to cut it out and go home (probably around 2AM)

Again, this goes down on Saturday May 3.

The Green Room is located at 203 Frank E Rodgers Blvd which is pretty much a five minute walk from the Harrison PATH station (turn to your left when you get out of the PATH station and walk 7 blocks and you'll find this place on the left-across the street from the Wendy's and the QuikMart).

Hope to see you there.

Salut! I'm Shien Lee, an event promoter in New York City - and I would like to invite all modern dandies, decadents, aesthetes, artists, thinkers, and dreamers to join us on February 8th and 9th for the 2008 Dances of Vice Festival in New York City! While our regular monthly events are grounded in the 1920-30s, the 2008 Dances of Vice Festival will have a distinctly neo-Victorian flair.

Rasputina will be headlining the festival in the exciting context of a neo-Victorian costumed ball, which will largely appeal to the gothic Victorian, neo-Victorian, steampunk, lolita, vintage lifestyle, glamor, and alternative subculture demographics.

The festival will feature a number of vendors, an art gallery, a vintage Polaroid photo booth, puppet operettas, a costume contest, and much more.

Event flyers can be found on my profile, and festival details can be located at www.dancesofvice.com

Thank you for your interest to our music.

Last summer we held a throat singing camp in Tuva.

We had 14 students from around the world - 8 of them were from the US, 2 from Australia
2 from Denmark, 1 from France, 1 from England.
After arriving in Tuva, the students spent 1 week in Kyzyl, the capital city.
They were able to see many tourist attractions, see a Tuvan shaman,
and attend the Naadym - National Harvest Celebration.

The students then went on to spend 1 week in the deep taiga, with members of the Tuvan throat singing group Chirgilchin,
learning various styles of throat singing, traditional Tuvan instruments, as well as the Tuvan language.

This summer, we are trying to get 2 groups to go to Tuva again, in either June or July.
WAVEWHORE
Broke Recordings - BreaksFM - Electrofly Records - BombTraxx – Nexus Artists - NYC

With releases on high profile record labels such as Broke, BreaksFM, Electrofly and BombTraxx, New York City based Wavewhore is quickly building a reputation as one to watch in the global breakbeat community. His skills behind the decks have also led to headlining appearances across the US and in Europe and he has appeared as a guest on Annie Nightingale’s show on BBC Radio 1 London, Jay Cunning’s Breakbeat Sessions on KISS FM London and Liquid Todd’s radio show on WKTU 103.5 FM New York. In addition, Wavewhore is a resident at the Sullivan Room, one of New York City’s premier underground venues, and he regularly hosts ‘The Audio Tactics Sessions’ on the Breakspoll award-winning BreaksFM internet station (www.breaksfm.com). He has been called a “breakbeat master” by Liquid Todd and “one of the USA’s finest breakbeat DJ/producers” by Jay Cunning and www.breakbeatonline.com even went so far as to call him “NYC’s finest export since the Beastie Boys!”.

Wavewhore began his career as a heavy metal guitarist performing in clubs while he was still in high school and his first electronic release dates back to 1992. In 2007, Wavewhore was nominated for the Breakthrough Producer category at the annual Breakspoll Awards in London and his cutting edge music has received high level support from many of the top names in the business including Aquasky, General Midi, DJ Icey, The Autobots, The Freestylers, Elite Force, Drumattic Twins and many more. As a musician, he stands apart in his ability to produce a wide variety of styles within the breaks genre with quality results. His diversity in production also carries into his DJ sets which blend many styles of breaks from funk to bassline to tech into powerful and effective mixes that whip the dance floor into a frenzy.

WES SMITH
Juice Recordings - NYC

Wes Smith is the cosmically funky frontman, DJ and remixer behind New York City based record label Juice Recordings and the now defunct Juiced NYC event. He has played all over the world including gigs at Ministry of Sound UK with the Eden Collective, made countless trips to the decks at Scott Henry's BUZZ/Cubik DC and spun the wheels of steel in Southern India at Pasha several times. For more information, visit www.juicerecordings.com

3L3TRONIC
Excursion - Disorient – NYC

There is no way of guessing by their name 3L3TRONIC (pronounced Three-L-Three-Tronic), just how much juice DJs Vitamindevo and Bianca Dino pack into their collective. Each entertainer has enough clout on their own to entertain a huge audience, so why the combination? Two is better than one! Together, these performance DJs deliver high-octane tag-team sets, electrifying vocals, and live elements that make them incredibly new and exciting. Their sound and style are unique and different, combining fresh underground beats with hot vocal riffs and melodies along with custom tweaks and twists.

If music is about communication, then these two use all the mediums. They produce visual entertainment as well as intense sound quality. “We picture ourselves as people dancing in the crowd when we DJ and make music. We put everything into our performances and that is what they are... performances. We expend all of our energy and we receive tons of energy back from doing that. It's about passion…" With their upcoming album in the works, expect to hear unreleased tracks for your aural pleasure.

HI-FI
Brooklyn Bass – NYC

Hailing from Brooklyn, HI-FI has involved himself in the New York City breaks scene since 2001. Residing briefly in South Florida his involvement in electronic music blossomed after being introduced to the hard electro scene that was dominating the dance floors at that time. Gradually, he made the leap from fan to breaks promoter and hosted events in the Ft. Lauderdale area in the late 90's. Once stationed in New York City, his focus shifted behind the turntables and his style of electro-funk and bass-line breaks sets has been tearing up the dance floors ever since.

Captain Zorikh's Lost Guitar

We can call this story "If it could happen to anyone, why did it happen to me?"

There are 8 million stories in the naked city. Some of them intertwine and intersect. I am sending this message in the hope that in a week of entwining intersections, there can be just one more that can help me get my guitar back.

Captain Zorikh did it again. After an enjoyable evening at the Church of Pop website launch party (http://www.thechurchofpop.com , a very interesting event of multi-media art and entertainment), I headed home on the L train at about 12:15 with every intention of getting home and working on my Captain Marvel Culture website (http://www.captainmarvelculture.com). I had my Washburn acoustic guitar in its black Manny's Music gig bag on my back, but took it off so I could stand up and distribute a few flyers for the Big Apple Convention coming up on November 16-17-18 (http://www.bigapplecon.com). I sat back down when I was done and pulled out a copy of Avengers #191 to read for the rest of the brief journey. When I got to the Montrose Ave stop, I got up and walked out. I stopped at the deli outside the subway exit, and, after ordering a roast beef sandwich (lettuce, tomato and mustard, on a roll), I realized...I didn't have my guitar.

I rushed back down to the subway platform and told the token booth attendant (I'm sorry, I'll always call them that. Just nostalgic, I guess) who did yeoman service making phone calls to let the conductor know that I had left my guitar in the train and to see if he could find it. After an interminable wait, the word was...no guitar.

It's a very horrible feeling to realize one has lost his guitar. This guitar has been a significant part of my livelihood for the past few years. It is one of the few purchases I have made that has paid for itself, many times over. It has helped me get through rough emotional times and helped me communicate my joy with other people. I also ned it for a gig this coming weekend at Jeff Mach's Labyrinth http://www.wickedfaire.com/labyrinth/index.html
But also with the guitar was the case it was carried in, and in that case were extra strings, two harmonicas and a harmonica holder, a capo, extra picks, loose change from busking, and a dozen or so Watch This Space comics, various issues, for me to sell.

It was a dumb, simple, way of forgetting it. Such a significant loss for such a miniscule payoff.

So I guess three things could have happened. 1) a good Samaritan now has my guitar and is going through my extra strings, harmonica, loose change from busking (all the foreign coins and amusement park slugs that get tossed in) and dozen or so copies of my Watch This Space comics to find contact info to get the guitar back to its rightful owner or 2) they turned it in to a station attendant who will turn it in to the MTA lost & found or 3) they are keeping it for themselves, thus saving $350 on a very good-sounding guitar (despite some wear and tear). There is also the possibility that it was kidnapped by aliens, but that's not very likely and I don't accept it. If it had been taken for an "unattended package" then the train line would have been shut down and I would know exactly where it is.

So, over the course of this week I have met one person from my alma mater, the School of Visual Arts, one person who is an artist who regularly goes to the Big Apple Convention, and two people that I have known through William Shakespeare's Haunted House, and one who I first met in the SCA, then later when she was working at Belvedere Castle when WSHH was performing there, then again when she turned out to be a friend of a co-worker at Anchor Network, then again when she was waitressing at Veselka. With all these coincidences, I can only hope for just one more, the coincidence that one of you within the sound of my voice knows the person, or is the person, who picked up my guitar that I lest on the L train heading for Broadway Junction at Montrose Ave at about 12:20 in the morning of Saturday night/ Saturday morning September 23-23.

You can see a picture of the guitar at http://www.myspace.com/captainzorikhmusic

On Monday I will call the MTA's Lost & Found. When I have the results of that investigation, or if somehow my guitar gets back to me sooner, I will let you all know.

I won't send out a "please buy my products at http://www.captainzorikh.com/wts/catalogue.html or buy something from Amazon.com by clicking on the Amazon.com link on almost any page of my website http://www.captainzorikh.com and help me get a new guitar" message until after I have determined that the guitar is actually lost and gone forever.

Press Release

"Faces of Agent Double E" / "Caras de Agente Double E"
Renee Asteria's New Release

Renée Asteria's music is a strange fusion of Folk-Rock-Reggae which
represents the rare combination of cultures and environments which she
embodies. Her father is Bolivian and mother is Dutch, she grew up in
France but was born in the US (NJ). Her family background and love of
social work have granted her great privilege to work, study and travel
in other countries. After one year of social work in Latin America,
Renee returns with a second full length album "Caras de Agente Doble
E" ("Faces of Agent Doble E") which she produced with much blood and
sweat in Buenos Aires, Argentina from October 2006 to April 2007.
Argentine producer Matias Martyn and local musicians from TIBETAN
MONKEY (myspace.com/tibetanmonkey Reggae-Dub), SINSEMILLA (Reggae) and
TONY FLUYE (Funk-Rock) bring the 12-song production to life. With
simple lyrics and enticing music, Renee fuses her passions; South and
North America, social work and music, love and nature.

You'll hear rock with a Nirvana/Byork/Blind Melon/Soundgarden feel (listen to So
Irrational, Lullabye, Smile) and Reggae - Manu Chau/Lee Perry/Wailers
with a female touch (check out Vinchuca, Break Away) - and - even
dancehall (Open Mind). Her vocals will make you dance and dream. The
bilingual album (English and Spanish) is characterized by Renee's
catchy but creative melodies and quirky song themes, including, insect
disease vectors ("Mosquito", Dengue fever prevention and "Vinchuca",
risk factors for Chagas disease) and love songs as odes to the Sun
("Oblivion") and the Sea ("Blue Mystery").

The album was first released in Buenos Aires, Argentina (aired live on
95.5 Rock&Pop FM and Open Air Radio) and released in NYC (Mopitkins,
June 9th). She will appear at the 169 Bar (169 East Broadway, NYC) June 27th at 10 pm for her second presentation in NYC - COME SUPPORT.

The disc will be rereleased on July 11th in SF Bay at ASHKENAZ
(1317 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley, 8 pm - 8$). The show is "Woman Fronted
Roots" - Renee Asteria - "Agent Double E" will split the evening with
Naomi & the Courteous Rudeboys
(myspace.com/naomiandthecourtenousrudeboys). Come out and DANCE!

Why AGENT DOUBLE E? - Well, as a woman - in Latin America it is
strange to be named Renée - so she has always presented herself as
René "with double e for a woman" translated in Spanish to "con doble
e para mujer" - and her nomadic lifestyle leads some friends to
suspect that she's a SPY - HAHAH. Who knows? Thus the name Agent
Double E (Agente Doble E)!

The disc can be purchased from cdbaby.com/asteria2 and
indierhythm.com/product.php?cdId=1834 and digital downloads from

We came across "Juan Mann" on YOUTUBE.COM (( www.youtube.com/watch )), he came up with this international group that shares the message of love through hugs. When we saw the "free hugs" video clips we were touched, if it can make anyone that may be having a tough day feel better then we are already a success. This is about solidarity as progressive people, as the next generation, as believers, as new yorkers, this is about being inclusive to those that believe that our globalization is the way to solidarity.
6362MetaForce presents ...
The BROOKLYN SUMMER STOMP!!
11pm – 7am

A psychedelic feast to unite the tribes, light and dark…coming together in an old-time Goa night-to-morning BANGER!!

>>>>> In the DARK CAVERN…...ARTWORK by DAYA CAYUNG (MataJiwa Project, Indonesia/NY)

***SOFIAX (Discovalley Records/Insomnia Records/Mental Cruelty Records, Greece) – DJ SET
Protégé of DJ Teo (Discovalley Records, Goa) and collaborator of master producer Kindzaza, Sofia Mantoudi aka SofiaX is a bright star up and coming on the dark scene. With banging recent releases on Discovalley Records (Goa) and Insomnia Records (Russia), SofiaX brings the dark night Goa style to her production and her DJ sets, delivering brain-killing trax with flawless, full-power energy. Her new label, Mental Cruelty Records, has its first compilation coming out in September – a VA sure to fry brain cells across the globe. 6362 Metaforce is honoured to bring Sofia for her first US appearance to bless this collective with pure Goa vibes in the darkest pounding Greek style!

***DAKSINAMURTI (Shiva Space Technology, Germany) – DJ SET
Coming off a winter 2006 tour in India and this summer’s European festival circuit, Till Kuhn aka Daksinamurti also comes to New York for his first US appearance. Associated with SST, Daksi is launching his own label (Rudrakshrec) with DJ Shivamoon from India this Fall, so keep your eyes and ears open. Versatile and powerful, Daksinamurti’s sets are signature twilight Goa: upbeat, psychedelic, and structured for night or morning stomping!

***BRANDON ADAMS (Dreamcatcher, NY)
One of the strongest DJs on the East Coast, Brandon will step up to launch the 6362MetaForce movement with pure clean energy and trance-dance power!

>>>>>> By the GLOW POND …. ARTWORK by UTA BEKAIA (Georgia/NY)

*** YIDAM (Divine Balance/Bengaliens, India) & RACHEL Live on FLUTE (6362MetaForce, NY)
Varun aka Yidam comes to us fresh off the plane from Kolkata (India), suitcase full of new psychedelic sounds. Rachel’s improvisation adds some organix onto Varun’s mechanix for a psychedelic ambient jam session by the reflecting pool.

*** URIEL (Israel/NY) - DJ Set
Always a welcome face on the NY psy circuit, Uriel delivers true psychedelic full-on: melodic and upbeat but still night-flavoured and complex!

*** EARWORM (NY) - DJ Set
One of the youngest and freshest psy producers on the scene, Max aka EarWorm will unleash his new unreleased trax in a crunchy sunrise set for the full-on family!

This would be a band that plays sharp, disjointed, noisy, mathy, post/punk songs with a scoop of left politics and a whiff of geek. Probably more for fun than for profit. We’d like to find a bassist and a lead guitar player, either of whom might be comfortable doing some vocals here and there.

Men’s Recovery Project
The Ex
The Teeth (the ones from Ann Arbor - theteethband.com)

Freek Factory in unholy conjunction with Disorient invites all y’all bass loving freekz to the NYC subterranean party of the season. Join us in celebrating the much anticipated release of Lorin(bazznectar)’s double dose cd Mesmerizing The Ultra on Amorphous Records.

The new music is deep; throbbing; significant:

Glitched out, smacked up bass bombs, melodic psychedelic swamp ballads for the sub-reptilian brain, phat chuggers and nasty churners, full of subversive lyrical content and calls for human dignity. Music to come go chant down Babylon with your booty wagging in syncopated assent.

If you haven’t heard any of Lorin’s new material then come down and taste the nectar. If you have already been bathing in it then you know the deal. Either way we will see you there, yes?

Don’t sleep.

From 10pm-6am on the night of October 7th we are occupying the premises at 251 W. 30th st (formerly known as Downtime), in the pulsing heart of midtown Manhattan for an unrepentant full throttled bass orgy. You feeling that? Join us as we transform the semi-raw space into a lascivious den of outerworldly delights.

Step inside: We’ve got wonder and we’ve got mayhem in equal measure; whirling things and things that slither; inflatable devices of dubious intent; pirates, dandy’s and trannies; light projecting machines; dark vixens and pimped out maidens writhing atop woofers; scantily clad tiggrrrs fearlessly scuttling about the ceiling; spirit creatures of all description wearing flesh, dense folds of undulating human mass throbbing in ecstatic unison to the fever of the music: Freekin’ The Ultra, know what I’m saying?

Now Sequoia’s going to make things beautiful like she always does. Satsi’s coming all the way east to make things shimmer and glow. Freek Factory Dancers be properly instigating delightful madness. and Disorient is going to touch everything with their glam-tech sensibility and fill the dark corners with things that go blink in the night.

Lorin promises me that he’ll put on his swamp suit and hit us with the rhythm stick. BB.

Don’t let me forget to mention that we’ve got 3 rooms of top shelf talent lined up for your buggin’ pleasure:

The All Good Funk Alliance properly handling your Nu-Funk needs. D.C. got it going on; Rhythmystic wompwompin’ on the funky raggafied tip; Sunder rippin’ things up on turntables and knocking down the one’s and two’s, tight as tight is tight; Spyro’s next level progressive Live PA; Wavewhore and Sean Infinitee reppin for the Nu-Skool hedz; The Bass and Orion bringing that deep house vibe to get things lubricated; AtoMikDog, Zapper, and the Drop In Posse with European style Techno and Breakbeats all night on Live PA in the downstairs lounge; JP001 going to start things right on the funky tip: and I am going to bring it all home with a late night journey to a deep place we’ll call tomorrow when we get there.

Are you down for the ride?

Come celebrate life, Lorin, love, whatever. Don’t matter, let’s just freek it beautiful, yes.

Yes.

Each night, we'll park and play next to a different piece of spectacular Playa art, bringing our music, light, and fire next to stone, earth and steel.

Di5orient loves performers grooving to our music: fire performers, poi spinners, hoopers, dancers, jugglers, etc. We'll welcome you anytime.

On Friday and Saturday, the DEX will be providing fire performers with free white gas and lamp oil (while it lasts).

If listed, nightly locations are tentative. Updates will be posted at our base camp: 8:00 and Esplanade.

Or just look for the blinking, orange "Di5" sign on the big bus with no sides and all the speakers on top and the 18' LED semicircles making those cool patterns...(well, you'll know it once you see it!)

Here's the lineup:

MON - Warm-up in camp, with house, breaks, & chill-out from camp DJs.
*Di5orient, 8:00 and Esplanade

TUES - Gloriously techy stuff: Spinoza (electro/tech-house), Artur (funky techno), Wolf + Lamb (minimal tech-house), The Eye (minimal techno & Goa trance).
*Party starts at the greeters station and then moves to open playa

WEDS - House, and lots of it: Laird (breaky house), Bass (tribal house), Vitamin Devo vs Biancadina (progressive house), Arrow Chrome (tribal house). Artur (deep house), Sascha (chillout).
*Location TBA

THURS - Space Cowboys ahoy!! Cap'n Kirk brings a crew to rock our beast with breakbeats (plus D&B by Arrow Chrome). Then we head to Fringe to see Hamsa Lila bringing in the dawn.
*At "the big tree"; Pilgrimage to The Fringe, Amnesia and 3:00

FRI - Freek Factory presents: Lorin Bassnectar, All Good Funk Alliance, Rodman, Rhythmystic, Mikio, and Ooah -- all kinds of breaks, all night and all morning long, with a Freekily massive boost to the bass!
*Deep playa, directly behind The Man (12:00)

SAT - Dawn set by Yossi Fine (world/dub). Post-burn lineup tbd. We host the party all night and all morning long. Party ends SUN at noon.
camp throw a righteous fundraiser for their mobile Disorient Express.
That's right, you might be able to go home and get some sleep this year
because we're taking it out of the dome and into the deep playa.

Be warned: it's just a dress rehearsal for the big show in the desert.
Held at a 10,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Brooklyn, this warm up includes
